Strengthening Safety Measures for Work at Height and Ensuring Safety at Night – Guangjin UAE Conducts Specialised Training on Safety for Working at Height and Night-time Operations
The large-scale elevated bridge project in Sharjah, undertaken by Guangjin UAE, has entered the initial phase of the superstructure works, resulting in an increase in the frequency of work at height. Furthermore, due to weather conditions and government regulations, night-time construction has gradually become the norm. In light of this, on 5 June, Guangjin UAE joined forces with CGC Group to hold a safety training session. The training focused on two high-risk scenarios: safety protection for work at height and risk management for night-time construction.
During the safety training session on working at height, the safety instructor provided a detailed explanation of topics including scaffolding erection, the operation of mobile elevating work platforms, and the ‘high-hang, low-use’ principle for safety harnesses. By presenting recent case studies of typical falls from height, the instructor analysed in detail the serious consequences of hazards such as the incorrect use of personal protective equipment, inadequate protection at the work surface, and working in hazardous weather conditions. Practical exercises were also organised on-site, covering the correct donning of safety harnesses and the selection of anchor points for safety ropes, to ensure that every worker operating at height is capable of ‘inspecting, using and responding to emergencies’.
In light of the complex nature of night-time construction environments, inadequate lighting and the susceptibility of workers to fatigue, the training session outlined the ‘six musts’ for night-time construction: a dedicated lighting plan must be drawn up; conspicuous warning signs must be erected; a dual-supervision system must be implemented; working hours must be strictly controlled; pre-shift safety checks must be carried out; and emergency communication equipment must be provided. In addition, the instructor used specific procedures such as night-time lifting and concrete pouring to explain coordination during concurrent operations, avoidance of machinery blind spots, and procedures for dealing with sudden power cuts.
This training session covered all on-site management and construction personnel. The CGC safety officer stated that, going forward, safety during work at height and night-time construction will be prioritised in daily inspections. The company will strictly enforce the requirements that ‘no one takes up a post without training, no work is carried out without protective equipment, and no night-time work is conducted without adequate lighting’, and will resolutely uphold the red line of workplace safety.

Prevention in Mind, Safety in Action | Guangjin Angola Conducts Specialised Training on Epidemic Prevention and Construction Safety
To effectively prevent the risk of imported Ebola cases
and implement the requirements of the National Work Safety Month,
on 6 June, Guangjin Angola organised a special online training session on epidemic prevention knowledge
and safe and civilised construction practices.
All staff in Angola attended the session,
thereby solidifying the safety defences on both the epidemic prevention and production fronts.
The training was divided into three main modules: virus prevention and control, mental health and stress management, and construction safety. The content was closely aligned with the practical realities of overseas projects and was highly practical. During the session, Wang Juan, Manager of the Human Resources Department, delivered a detailed presentation on Ebola virus prevention and control, outlining key protective measures and precautions, and guiding staff on how to protect themselves effectively. Furthermore, taking into account the nature of long-term overseas assignments, she provided guidance on psychological support and stress relief techniques, demonstrating a genuine concern for staff’s physical and mental wellbeing and conveying the company’s warm support.
Hu Dianwang, General Manager of the Engineering Department, delivered a training session on the theme of workplace safety, adhering to the principles of ‘safety first, prevention foremost, and comprehensive management’, and focusing on high-risk areas within the project. He placed particular emphasis on operational standards and safety requirements for critical areas such as working at height, temporary electrical installations, machinery operation and fire safety, thereby further strengthening the entire workforce’s awareness of safety red lines, sense of responsibility and emergency response capabilities.
During the training session, General Manager Hu emphasised that project managers must fulfil their duties as the primary persons responsible for safety and take the lead in deploying and implementing safety measures. Moving forward, the company will conduct a comprehensive, company-wide self-inspection and rectification of potential hazards, carrying out thorough checks and improvements in construction, office and living areas, as well as in relation to equipment, fire safety, and water and electricity systems. It will also organise regular emergency drills, safety awareness campaigns and warning education to ensure that safety responsibilities are assigned to specific posts and individuals. This training has further strengthened the foundations of safety management and addressed existing safety shortcomings. Moving forward, the Angola Company will continue to rigorously implement routine epidemic prevention and safety management measures, safeguarding the physical and mental well-being of employees, strictly upholding safety standards, and ensuring the smooth, orderly and safe progress of overseas projects.

Expanding Across the Nation, Building a Foundation for the Future: Guangjin and Liansu Deepen Strategic Partnership to Support Angola’s National Strategic Projects
Against the backdrop of a profound restructuring of global industrial chains, China Lesso, a leading Chinese pipeline network enterprise, and Guangjin Group, a comprehensive engineering and trading group with years of deep-rooted operations in Africa, have officially announced the deepening of their strategic partnership. Leveraging Lesso’s localized manufacturing capabilities across multiple African countries and combining them with Guangjin Group’s robust regional distribution and engineering service networks, the two parties will not only fully participate in national-level water conservancy projects for public welfare in Angola, such as those in Bita and Quilonga, but will also jointly expand into Angola’s core inland provinces. In water supply and drainage projects and agricultural irrigation projects in Huila, Huambo, Benguela, Malanje, and Uige, providing integrated services ranging from pipe supply to construction solutions, thereby opening a new chapter of “Chinese technology + African manufacturing.”
In recent years, Liansu Group has significantly accelerated its industrialization efforts in Africa, achieving a strategic leap from product exports to the establishment of local technological capabilities:
A Successful First Step in Tanzania: Liansu’s first local factory in Africa has officially commenced operations in Tanzania, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons, becoming a key hub for the supply of high-quality pipes in East Africa.
Strategic Expansion in Angola: As the second stop in its African expansion, the construction and operation of LUSO’s production base in Angola signify that the company now possesses manufacturing capabilities capable of providing immediate response to the markets of West and Central Africa.
Expansion Across the African Continent: With the completion of the manufacturing center in Ethiopia and preparations underway for the R&D hub in South Africa, LUSO is building a multi-country “manufacturing + service” closed-loop system across Africa.
Through this close partnership between Guangjin Group and Liansu, one of the core objectives is to provide strategic material support for Angola’s two most critical water projects at present:
The Bita Project: As a key public welfare project aimed at alleviating water supply pressure in Luanda, this project imposes stringent requirements on the pressure resistance and environmental standards of the water supply network.
The Quilonga Project: Focusing on the construction of a strategic water transmission backbone network in the Luanda region, this project serves as a cornerstone for building Angola’s modern infrastructure.
Leveraging its extensive distribution network across Luanda, Lubango, Huambo, Benguela, Malanje, and Huíre provinces, Guangjin Group, in conjunction with the production capacity of Liansu’s local factories, provided a comprehensive service package for the project featuring “localized production, door-to-door delivery, and round-the-clock technical support.” This not only effectively mitigated the impact of international logistics fluctuations on the project schedule but also significantly reduced procurement costs for the government and the general contractor.
The head of Guangjin Group’s Angola division stated: “Our partnership with Liansu goes beyond the mere sale of products; it represents a deep involvement in Angola’s industrialization process. By introducing Liansu’s cutting-edge piping technology to our local factories and leveraging Guangjin’s distribution network—which has been established in the region for over two decades—we are able to apply the highest-quality ‘Made in Angola’ piping materials to critical infrastructure projects such as those in Bita and Quilonga.”

In a short period of time, they completed due diligence, plan design, and financing for the first batch of projects. This represents a successful implementation of the full-chain service model—“planning empowerment + financial support + international implementation”—and has laid a solid foundation for future large-scale cooperation.
Leveraging the advantages of regional industrial clusters, the Management Committee has built a bridge between government and business, facilitating the precise matching of high-quality resources and helping to accelerate the transition from signed agreements to concrete implementation. The successful completion of this first round of financing is not only a result of collaboration among enterprises but also a vivid illustration of how the High-Tech Zone supports high-level opening-up and empowers enterprises in their international development.
Looking ahead, both parties will use the completion of the first round of financing as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation across multiple sectors: in areas such as international trade, they will jointly establish fast-track channels for overseas market expansion to help more Henan-based enterprises connect their products and services with global demand; Regarding cross-border projects, they will expand service coverage and design more diversified financial solutions to address the funding bottlenecks faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and micro-enterprises when expanding overseas; simultaneously, they will collaborate with high-quality enterprises within the High-Tech Zone to build a synergistic ecosystem integrating “industry, planning, finance, and internationalization,” thereby establishing a replicable and scalable cooperation model.
Guangjin International Group will continue to put the requirements for high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative into practice through concrete actions. By partnering with more high-quality enterprises, we will translate the outcomes of our cooperation into tangible projects, thereby making a greater contribution to helping Henan-based companies expand globally and achieving industrial globalization.
