On March 2, Angola received 624,000 doses of the new crown vaccine produced by the British AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. The first batch of vaccines came from the new crown vaccine implementation plan (Covax) led by the World Health Organization.According to Angola’s media, vaccines will arrive in Angola in the future.
Angola became the third African country to receive a free new crown vaccine after Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. When receiving the vaccine, Minister of Health Lutukta announced that it will give priority to health professionals, vulnerable people, patients with underlying diseases, teachers and other front-line professionals.
As part of Angola's prevention and response to the pandemic, with the support of Covax, the Ministry of Health has formulated the National Immunization Program to ensure safe and fair access to the Covid-19 vaccine, including cold chain infrastructure and storage, and training for vaccination.
