Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 10 – Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council attended the opening ceremony of the special ministerial meeting of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum on April 10 and delivered a speech.
Li Keqiang said that the member states of Forum China are good friends and partners, and the practical cooperation in various fields has been continuously deepened. The measures announced by the Chinese side at the Fifth Ministerial Conference in 2016 to promote cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries have been fully implemented. The trade volume between China and Portuguese-speaking countries has exceeded US$100 billion for five consecutive years and reached the US$200 billion mark last year, fully demonstrating the resilience and development potential of cooperation.
Li Keqiang pointed out that the current international and regional situation is turbulent, the new crown pneumonia epidemic is still lingering and repeated around the world, the uncertain and unstable factors of the world economy have risen significantly, and the safety and security of all countries are closely related to each other. China proposes:
The first is to maintain peace and stability and promote development and prosperity. Peace and stability are the blessings of all countries, and war, chaos and people's unrest will have adverse effects on all parties. China has always been a defender of world peace, and is willing to work with the international community, including Portuguese-speaking countries, to continue to play a constructive role in maintaining peace and promoting the common development and prosperity of all countries.
The second is to strengthen solidarity and cooperation to defeat the epidemic at an early date. China is willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries in the fields of vaccines, medicines and health care, and set up a China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Epidemic Prevention Exchange Center in Macau to jointly promote the improvement of the global health governance system.
The third is to adhere to open cooperation and promote economic recovery. China has always adhered to high-level and institutional opening to the outside world, and is willing to continue to work with Portuguese-speaking countries to promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, advance infrastructure connectivity and production capacity cooperation, develop cooperation in green trade, energy conservation and environmental protection, and jointly expand the cake of cooperation and create New growth points, so that development achievements can better benefit people of all countries.
Li Keqiang stressed that Macao is a bridge connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The Central Government of China unswervingly implements the principles of "one country, two systems", "Macau people administer Macau" and a high degree of autonomy, and supports Macau in further building a service platform for business cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, so as to better leverage its unique advantages. It is believed that with the joint efforts of China and Portuguese-speaking countries, the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides will steadily advance, and more achievements will be made.
The theme of this special meeting is "Jointly Fight the Epidemic and Seek Common Development". Government representatives participate in conference-related activities through a combination of online and offline methods.
