On August 28, 2023, the construction of the foundation of the water tower and the box culvert section of the diversion hole, which is the most critical part of the schedule, was completed in the large-scale water conservancy project, the Ndou Dam Drought Relief Project in Angola, which was constructed by Guangjin Construction (Angola) Co.
The Endo Dam Drought Relief Project is located in the municipality of Cuvelai, Cunene Province, Republic of Angola, in the southwest of Africa. It is the main project of Section 5 of the Southern Drought Relief Project, which the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water Resources started preparing in 2019. The project aims to solve the problem of local residents and livestock and other production and living water problems, as well as to meet the needs of agricultural irrigation in the surrounding areas.
The dam structure form for gravity earth and stone dam, divided into dam body, spillway, connecting bridge, diversion tunnel, multi-stage water intake tower, dam road six major parts. After the completion of the maximum storage area of 17.61 million m² (estimated by the average water depth of 8m), equivalent to China's large Ⅱ type reservoir, permanent grade for the second level of buildings. The dam site is located in an area where the topographic unit is a valley between the mountains, and the slope direction is gentle. The project is a downstream construction of dams, by means of dam storage, in order to achieve the purpose of water storage and water supply requirements.
The water conservancy project has the functional requirements of water retention and diversion and the schedule requirements of flood control. Water tower foundation and diversion hole box culvert section, is the main construction content of the diversion tunnel, but also the key node of the line, and there are earth excavation, cover heavy concrete pouring, high-pressure grouting, earth filling and other follow-up work. In order to ensure that the project is completed on schedule, the project department all staff since entering the field has begun the "charge mode", constantly overcome the local constraints in Africa, careful planning, careful deployment, careful accounting, good faith performance, sprinting to dry one hundred days, but also many times to fight for 72 hours of continuous concrete pouring feat, pouring volume and pouring speed! The volume and speed of concrete pouring was a new record! Showing the spirit of Guangjin team's hard work and enterprising spirit, a large number of labor models have emerged in the project department during this period.
Guangjin Project Department has conducted in-depth investigation and preparatory work in advance, fully considered the impact of the project's geological, hydrological, climatic as well as traffic conditions, carefully formulated the construction plan, planned each service link in detail, reasonably deployed the construction tasks in each time slot, and carried out all the work in an orderly manner.
On August 11th, Mr. Lourenço, the President of Angola, came to inspect the project, which was reported by Xinhua News Agency and Angolan State Television.
This stage of construction is characterized by "urgency", in which there are many construction processes and the construction volume is large. The next phase of construction is characterized by "difficult", which is characterized by large construction height and high precision requirements. During the next project implementation, the project team will continue to strictly control the quality, fully organize the on-site resources, speed up the construction, and ensure the successful completion of the target tasks as scheduled.
