On May 12, local time, the completion and handover ceremony of Iraq's first modernized cement plant--Iraq DCCP 6,000-ton per day cement clinker production line and power plant project was grandly held in Erbil Province of Iraq's Kurdistan Region, marking the official transfer of the project to the operation and maintenance stage. As an important participant of the project, GJI Iraq contributed to the successful completion of this landmark project.
The Iraqi DCCP cement plant is located in Erbil province. The project is expected to produce 2.05 million tons of cement annually, which will effectively make up for the supply gap of cement in Iraq's Kurdistan Region and the surrounding areas, and significantly enhance Iraq's self-sufficiency in cement. At the completion ceremony, Barzani, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, spoke highly of the construction results of the project, stating that the project is an important milestone in the industrialization process of Iraqi Kurdistan Region, with special emphasis on the efficient collaboration between Chinese enterprises and local enterprises.
Under the challenging engineering environment, facing the complex process and tight schedule requirements, Guangjin Iraqi team, with rich construction experience, worked closely with all parties, organized the construction scientifically, and fought around the clock to ensure the progress of the project, and the construction efficiency was significantly increased by 30% compared with the local standard, while more than 200 jobs were created for the local community during the construction process, and the spirit of Sino-Iraqi cooperation was also fully manifested. The successful handover of the DCCP cement plant project marks another major breakthrough for GJI in the Iraqi market.
From blueprint planning to uprooting, from deserted site to roaring machines, the team has experienced the transformation of the project through the professional wisdom and hard work of the builders. With the simultaneous commissioning of the power plant, this modernized cement plant will become an important engine to promote the reconstruction of the Iraqi economy.
